Reducing Slips & Trip Accidents Caused by Floor Cleaning

In 2007/08 HSE and local authorities are raising awarness on the dangers of incorrect floor cleaning regimes that lead to slip and trip accidents.

HSE is holding a series of half-day seminars across the country, most of which will take place between May and July 2007. These free seminars are aimed at managers, supervisors and cleaning staff.

They will give cleaning companies an opportunity to learn more about:

  • the importance of floor cleaning;
  • what can be done to prevent slips and trips;
  • contamination control

The seminars will also briefly cover other issues that can cause accidents or ill health in the industry:

  • dermatitis;
  • manual handling;
  • low falls

If you are interested in attending one of these seminars, please register online at www.hse.gov.uk/slips/cleancampaign.htm. You will be contacted by email once dates and locations have been confirmed.
